Swimming pool insulation

When the pool is heated without a cover, the water evaporates when the air temperature is lower than the water temperature. With the evaporation of the water, the chemicals in the pool also evaporate. With a cover, you not only save on energy costs, but also chemicals and water. The insulation value is expressed in the K-value: The amount of heat that is exchanged between two rooms per hour, per 1 m² and per degree of temperature difference. The value therefore indicates the degree of insulation: a high K-value means a less good insulation factor. The K-value of PVC slats is 2,65 W/m²K. The K-value of the polycarbonate slats is 2,74 W/m²K and thus saves up to 50% on heating costs. Are you going for a solar version? Then this saving can amount to up to 80%, which often makes additional heating unnecessary.

Properties of a (Re)Cover poolcover

The different slats differ in colour but also in properties: insulating, heating and reducing algae growth. Which slat is the right one depends on a number of factors: Location of the pool (indoor, outdoor, sun or shade), desired functionalities (only insulating or also heating), budget and taste.

By covering the water surface, the heated pool water does not evaporate. The heat is thus retained for longer.

Solar slats heat the water by sunlight through the transparent upper side heating the black underside. This can increase the water temperature by up to 10°C increase!

Algae growth is caused by sunlight and stagnant water. Thanks to a dark chamber in the hook connection or hinge section, almost no algae forms in the slats.

The price of a slatted cover depends on the dimensions of the pool and additional options, such as solar slats or an anti-algae profile.
